Sometimes in life, you discover the most beautiful places, experience the most wonderful things, and find new perspectives through detours.
My detour began in 2018 after almost 10 years of office work for a major corporation in the automotive industry in China. Instead of the long-targeted leap into management and city life, I ended up as an assistant in a stonemasonry business in Siegerland. Instead of faster - higher - further, I came to a screeching halt, learned humility, and found great fulfillment and peace in the physical and creative work of a stonemason.
In 2019, my "I" became a "we" again, and on my detour through life, I found a companion who encourages me to indulge in the "what if" thought experiment...
And it was these thought experiments that led me, free from all conventions and contrary to all expectations, not to return to corporate life, but to complete an apprenticeship as a stonemason.

Another result of these thought processes is "the stonemason," a small label for craftsmanship offering exclusive home accessories made of natural stone. Each product stems from one of my passions: delicious food, good coffee, elegant and minimalist interior design (as well as cycling). The designs and complementary materials like leather, metal, and cork are tailored to bring the beautiful natural stone to life and showcase it to its fullest potential.
The products from "the stonemason" bear the names of places where the idea for "the stonemason" originated, or where my life's detour has taken me in recent years, accompanied by fond memories.
