Sometimes in life, you discover the most beautiful places, experience the most wonderful things, and gain new perspectives by taking detours.

My detour began in 2018, after almost 10 years of office work for a large automotive corporation in China. Instead of the long-planned leap into management and city life, I ended up as a temporary helper in a stonemasonry workshop in Siegerland.
Instead of "faster - higher - further," I hit a full stop, but also found an opportunity to learn new skills and embrace new perspectives.

In 2019, my "I" became a "we" again, and on my detour through life, I found a companion who encouraged me to indulge in the thought experiment "what if"...

And it was precisely these thought experiments that led me to decide, free from all conventions and against all expectations, not to return to corporate life, but to complete an apprenticeship as a stonemason.
Another result of these thought experiments is "the stonemason." A small label for craftsmanship that offers exclusive home accessories made of natural stone. Each product stems from one of my passions: elegant and minimalist interior design, delicious food, good coffee, (and cycling). The designs and complementary materials such as leather, metal, and cork are designed to bring the beautiful natural stone to life and showcase it to its fullest potential.

The products from "the stonemason" bear the names of places where the idea for "the stonemason" originated or where we have traveled in recent years and with which I associate many beautiful memories.
